Plays well with others!

October 9, 2006

Hi! It’s me, Joely. I have Scruffy’s permission to post this. (I bought him off with a fresh batch of, what else, Scruffy’s Chicken.) This is a picture of my next-door neighbor Joshua & me. We were drawing on his driveway with his neato “sidewalk chalk.”

Bobcat!

October 9, 2006

I SAW A BOBCAT yesterday, while I was walking up by The Dish, near where I live! I’d never seen a wild Bobcat before. I watched it catch its lunch and eat it under a tree. At one point it came within about ten feet of where I was standing.

The purr in my life

October 7, 2006

Scruffy is perched attentively on my knee as I type, his purr definitely in gear. He had a good checkup today. I’d been very worried, so I’m quite relieved. And so is Scruffy, to be home from the Vet’s! Another plus: He’s off subcutaneous fluids for the time-being. His Calcium fell enough just from taking Fusimaride, a diuretic, which causes him to drink more water. It’s much better for me; I’d been unable to consistently give the fluids without help.

Mr. Handsome

October 5, 2006

That’s Scruffy’s new sobriquet. It evolved from “My Handsome Bear,” (unless you’re a Creationist and don’t believe in Evolution). Scruffy’s been quite fragile lately, so I’m accruing as much lap time as possible. In return, he’s receiving extra affection and praise. Scruffy was in my lap tonight during an extended phone conversation I had with Maggie’s Mom and my right leg went completely “to sleep”!

It’s Roxy Day!

October 2, 2006

Exactly one year ago today, I drove over to Berkeley and went on a special excursion with Jade and Roxy. I remember playing freeze-tag outside with the girls while their parents were inside having a discussion. Over the previous year Jade had become faster than I was, inside anyway; She could “corner” like a Quattro. But it turned out that I was still able to outpace her outside, because I could make wider turns and not have to slow down. She wasn’t thrilled about that and let me know in no uncertain terms. Then we both started laughing. I remember laughing so hard I could barely remain standing. Kids can teach you a lot, especially by helping you get in touch with your inner child :-)

“It’s me Joely. I have a cat. His name is ‘Scruffy.’ He has a ‘blog!”
