In medias res …

September 29, 2006

Scruffy seems fine, but his condition can change rather quickly. So my assessment remains “guarded.” I have a hard time leaving him for more than an hour or two, so I’m really glad I’m working at home. Speaking of which, I’ve started a “work” blog over at:

http://frameworker.wordpress.com.

It doesn’t contain much yet, but I just “turned the corner” on my project last night! What does that mean? I’m saying that the critical path is now “under control.” All the basics are in place; Any technical issues that arise can be dealt with asynchronously. YES!

P.S. Scruffy’s out on the holodeck right now, having just eaten a freshly cooked portion of (what else?) “Scruffy’s Chicken” :-)

A matter of perspective.

A friend of Scruffy’s lent an interesting perspective to this photo!

Double-feature on the holodeck

September 23, 2006

Scruffy went back onto the holodeck just now. He earned enough credits for a repeat excursion by returning briefly from his last stint, and eating his supper. It was a generous portion of “Scruffy’s Chicken,” cooked just the way he likes it :-) We’ve been busy: I’ve been working on my project, which is going well; and Senor Scruffy has been on his regimen of meds. His friends come by to visit occasionally and he’s always pleased to see them.

Afternoons are a good time to take a nap!

Thou hast nor youth nor age
But as it were an after dinner sleep
Dreaming of both.

A Gold Star for Doria!

September 3, 2006

Remember, in grade school, when you accomplished something really important you’d get a gold star on the classroom chart? Well, in that tradition, Doria gets a Gold Star for her nonpareil support during Scruffy’s recent crisis! Doria, I thank you and so does Scruffy; You’re the best!

Sunday: A day of rest.

September 3, 2006

After receiving his sub-Q fluids, Scruffy ate some chicken and then went outside to rest. Judy mentioned yesterday that the cooked chicken I’d been giving him probably contained too much NaCl. So I’ve become a Puddy Chef; He seems to like my cooking :-)

I {HEART} Scruffy!

September 2, 2006

It’s a miracle; Scruffy seems to be back to normal! And I’ve been able to give him subcutaneous fluids; something I was unable to previously do. So that’s a real breakthrough, because the fluids are key to his wellness; They lower his calcium level. Dr. Taylor felt that the raised calcium level, possibly a result of Lymphoma, was suppressing his appetite. So we’re steering an uncharted course, but keeping him afloat. He’s on two additional meds now. So I pill him in the mornings and at night, and do the sub-q fluids mid-day. It’s a lot; But he’s worth it! He’s my Scruffle-Bunny-Bear.

P.S. Did I mention he was eating like a piglet :-)
